1. Molokai, where did this name come from?

Molokai was the name of my childhood goldfish, it ended up living like 5-6 years. It's also the name of an island in Hawaii. When I was thinking of artist I thought Molokai sounded cool and memorable so I went with it.

2. Does your project represent something?

To me everything's about energy and the purpose of this project is just to send out good happy laid-back energy into the world. I'm also in a group called Toyland and we just put out a project called "Once Dreamed" and its kind of loosely based around summertime. Summertime and dreams are definitely two big themes throughout most things that I make.

3. Where do you come from?

I was born in Atlanta and grew up in the Chicago area. Right now I'm finishing school in Miami and plan on moving to Nashville once I graduate.

4. What would you categorize your music as for genres?

I don't really think in genre's but I suppose it falls somewhere in the world of "Indie" music. Maybe bedroom pop.

5. How do you get inspired?

Just certain emotions and mental states put me in a position to write. As a songwriter its vital to be in tune with your mental and emotional states because thats where the music comes from, its not like other types of work where you can just push through a bad day and still get a lot done. Other than that I'd just say other people's music I like to listen to.

6. What projects inspired your musical career?

Kanye West is my biggest influence. The Beatles, Frank Ocean, Sublime, the Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Oasis... I could go on forever.

7. What motivates you to do this?

Haha, I've never really thought about that much it's just something that I feel like I have to do. If I didn't do it i don't really know what else I'd be doing.

8. How do you write lyrics? And what topic do you seem to be writing the most about?

For this it depends on the song. I pretty much never write about my life or things from a personal perspective. I try to tell a story when I can, come up with lines that stick in people head and most importantly try to avoid saying anything corny. Everything I write tends to relate to human nature.

9. What instruments have you used in your project?

I use my Fender Strat guitar, a Fender Jazz Bass and everything else (drums/keys) is just midi.

10.What are the cymbals, guitar and bass pedal you couldn't ever get rid of?

My Fender Strat.

11. Where are you gonna play your next gig?

I'm not sure to be honest, I don't have one planned at the moment.

12. What's the best gig you ever played at?

Honestly, the most fun I've had might still be my high school talent show senior year. We had an 11 piece band and played Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen.

13. Which is best concert you've ever been to?

Probably Paul Simon.

14. Have you ever been to Italy?

Not yet!

15. Do you think that your music could get big in Italy?

I'm not really sure what people listen to in Italy, but you're from Italy and like it so theres a good start.

16. Got any names for other fresh new artists that would be up for an interview?

Goodie Bag, Teske on VHS, Jordan Wesel, Toyland (group I'm in!), and Elijah Kessler.

17. If you were to choose only three types of food to eat on tour, what would you pick?

Pizza, Mexican, and Salad just so I stay healthy.
