1. The Hunna, where did this name come from?

We used to say One Hunna all the time when hanging out which is hip hop slang for 100. It could be used to describe many things we liked/loved for example last night was One Hunna, that song is One Hunna that girl is One Hunna and so on. Around 2014/15 we was wanting a new band name and decided one hungover morning in Bath why don’t we put The at the front and became The Hunna.

2. Does your project represent something? If you do, please explain to us.

All of our projects represent real life situations and mainly what the band is feeling or going through at the time of the project. We have always wanted people to have a good time with our music but also take the listener on a journey with different styles mashed into one including heavy numbers, up tempo party songs, romantic songs, sad songs etc. The world is a very complicated place and we have always found joy and comfort within music so we always want to give off positive energy.

3. Where do you come from?

We hail from Watford, Hertfordshire and we were all born in Watford General Hospital at different times obviously haha.

4. What would you categorize your music as for genres?

Turn Up Rock!

5. How do you get inspired?

We have been inspired by many things and still to this very day look up to all sorts of artists, actors, icons etc. 

The main thing is having a natural passion for music and enjoying all sorts of music worldwide, this is what got us into music and family played a big part to growing up in music house holds. Our favourite musicians and artists are the reason why we wanted to do this and now it’s our turn to inspire the younger generation to pick up an instrument and chase your dreams. 

6. What projects inspired your musical career?

Queen, Ray Charles, AC DC, Bob Marley, The Beatles, Free, T-Rex, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Alice in Chains, were some of the artists we grew up listening too mainly through our parents which really was an amazing era. Personally Deftones, Blink 182, The Prodigy, Limpbizkit, Korn, Slipknot, Nirvana, Foo Fighters and I know the guys dig a lot of them too.  They are some of the main bands that really got me into drumming, joining music college and wanting to play in bands. BD was a massive fall of troy fan, Brand New and Tino was super into KOL. We all loved the indy scene growing up to including Bombay Bicycle Club, Foals, Bloc Party to name a few. There are too many albums to name so makes sense to list a lot of bands we love. 

7. What motivates you to do this?

The love for your instrument, the love of playing in a band, the love of the fans, the love and support from loved ones and playing awesome shows worldwide. We couldn’t think of anything better to do!

8. How do you write lyrics? And what topic do you seem to be writing the most about?

Lyrics in our songs always stem from many different places, in the past we’ve written songs from character perspectives from our favourite movies to creating our own little worlds up and writing from the scenes we see in our heads.. most of all we write about personal experiences throughout life, love, loss, growing, you’re forever learning in life and being thrown things to deal with and challenge yourself so we channel those moments and energies mostly. On this new record it’s very much about our view on what’s going on in the world and how we’ve grown through our crazy experiences in the last two years or so.

9. What instruments have you used in your project?

In the most recent project ‘I’d Rather Die Than Let You In’ we mainly used 2 guitars, bass, drums and vocals. This was the first project we used a multiple of synths, sub bass, trap drums and vocoder too which was fun as we felt we could finally experiment with different sounds. 

10.What are your favorite effects when you produce a piece of music?

Reverb on vocals or in some areas of the drums filters can be cool. Guitar wise there is a massive list of different effects the guys love to use some heavy like distortion, trippy delays and so on.

11. Where are you gonna play your next gig?

Like all bands at the moment we should have been playing a few festivals but with the current global situation things are being moved and people’s safety is most important. We’re very excited to be able to get back on the road as soon as possible and play new music to everyone. We have a couple of covers we recorded in isolation that are and will be on our socials, check the out!

12. What's the best gig you ever played at?

We have played lots of awesome shows over the last 5 years. Highlights have to be selling out Brixton Academy and playing Main Stage Reading & Leeds last summer. We were blown away by how many people watched us. It was a really sunny weekend and we had the best time rocking out doing our thing. 

13. Which is best concert you've ever been to?

As a band it was really cool to all watch Kings of Leon together and they were flawless. My favourite gig was Deftones at the O2 in Kentish Town, the kick drum went through my chest and they are my number one band so to see them play was amazing and Chino is the dopest frontman.

14. We remember when you came to Italy, Milan: your concert was fantastic. What was the most beautiful thing about that day in Italy?

It has to be the people, for our first time playing a really big show in Italy we were pretty nervous but the support we got from the crowd was unreal. We we’re very grateful and had such fun playing, we love Italy!

15. Do you think that your music could get big in Italy?

Yeah we believe our music could be big worldwide as we have a lot to offer as a rock band. Many different styles and songs all blend into the Hunna sound and we really take pride in being a tight live band. We have always wanted to be a well known sick band so the journey continues!

16. Got any names for other fresh new artists that would be up for an interview? If you do, please tell me.

Nova Twins are super dope, two really cool young females in a band from London. We think they are going to do big things. 

17. If you were to choose only three types of food to eat on tour, what would you pick?

Pizza, Pasta and burger & chips.
